Duke Family Updates

I haven't updated the blog for a little while and there is a lot to catch up on.

First, all of Casey's hard work paid off when our new patio was poured. I have to let everyone know that Casey did all the work and deserves all the credit for this. He pulled up the grass, hauled it all away, and leveled the ground before the cement guys came. We love having the basketball court and the larger space to relax. We bought some fun furniture and got a little fire pit to roast marshmallows. Last weekend we made s'mores with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups--super yummy--and read hilarious ghost stories around the fire

And then we started another project--Baby Shelby's nursery.

Casey, once again, has been working on Shelby's nursery. He put up bead-board and painted her room pink. He also got some adorable lights from work, a pink butterfly fan and a pink crystal mini chandelier, and put those up as well. Now the rest is up to me--the organizing and decorating--and hopefully I can get it all done soon. I am so excited to have it all done. It is so cute right now that I can't wait to have it all ready and waiting for the little one. Baby Shelby is getting so big. She weighs about 1 1/2 pounds according to all the books. She also kicks and punches a lot now. When I'm in the tub she can make little ripples in the water, and the first time Casey felt her, he put his head on my belly and she protested by kicking and kicking his face. Shelby definitely likes her space and lets me know when I bend over or sit wrong by kicking vigorously.

Another fun update: Our Dilemma started recording!

This last Saturday Casey and the band began to record a professional album. They spent six hours and got all the drum tracks laid for 9 songs. Casey says it was a lot more difficult than they expected. Peter, the drummer, had to drum to a rhythmic clicker and if he got off-beat at all, they had to start over. We have to give Peter a lot of credit for drumming for six hours straight. The boys had a lot of fun and can now start the guitar and bass tracks. Keep a look out for the album. The band is going to put it on iTunes once it's finished.

One more fun update...

Every summer Casey and I look for a new TV show to get into. This year we picked Lost, and let me tell you it's addictive. We are almost done with the second season already and have enjoyed every minute. I love it because I have plenty of time to finish the cross-stitches I'm trying to get done before September. I'm sure soon we will have all the seasons watched and be anxiously waiting for the premiere this Fall.

Hopefully everyone is having as fun and busy a summer as we are! It is definitely helping the pregnancy go by faster because I'm so busy and we're having so much fun together!
