No C-Section

Okay, I know there is a lot to say about our little Shelby's birth. Nothing really went as planned but happily everything is okay and going well even though our little girl is still in the hospital.

As I had posted, I was scheduled for a c-section on September 21st at 7 am. That morning we woke up about 3:30 am. I couldn't really sleep and that kept Casey from sleeping, so by the time we got to the hospital at 5 am, we were already tired. At the hospital they prepped me for my c-section, and I mean they had me completely prepped except for my epidural when my doctor arrived. Now, Dr. Harward had told me that he wanted the nurses to do a sonogram on me that morning to make sure Shelby hadn't turned and check her position. Well he arrived at 6:45 am and they hadn't done the sonogram, so Dr. Harward did it. As he put the sonogram probe on my belly, we all realized very quickly that she had turned. Now I don't know why I didn't realize it myself, but I didn't. The only indication was that the night before the top of my belly was much softer than normal. As we all stared at the sonogram machine, none of us could believe that she was no longer breech. We then had two options: I could be induced right then, that morning and risk having a c-section if my labor didn't progress, or we could come back to the hospital that night and start the induction. Because my cervix was completely closed and hard, we decided to come back that night for an induction procedure that softens your cervix. Then we went home and slept all day.
